Easy Care Plants: Snake Plant

Another plant that is super easy and beautiful is called a Snake Plant. Fun fact, it is in the same family as the Lucky Bamboo plant! It is a "Dracaena Trifasciata".

Look how little! I love plants that can start out so tiny and then get HUGE! It's amazing to watch them grow! These beauties can grow from a couple inches to several feet! How quickly they grow has to do with how much light they are exposed to. They are tough plants and will thrive indoors and out!
Here's where you can get a small one!

Snake plants prefer to have their soil dry out before getting another watering. You want to be careful not to overwater them because that can lead to rotting roots! Terracotta pots are helpful because they will absorb some excess water. Ensure you have a planter that allows for drainage if you're still getting the hang of how much water your plant needs!

These plants are also extremely easy to propagate! Once you cut a leaf, place it in a jar or glass with some water. You don't want to fill the glass, just enough to cover the bottom quarter or so of the plant. Every couple of days switch out the water and soon you will see little roots beginning to grow! When that happens you are ready to plant it in soil and enjoy a brand new plant!

They come in several varieties so you really have a lot of options when it comes to deciding which to welcome into your space! They add a bold and brilliant splash of green to any home.
