Crochet Scrunchies!
Are you loving the scrunchie trend? Make some unique hair accessories of your own with this easy-to-learn crochet pattern! Let's get started.
This is my favorite method of making them because the final product is similar to a store-bought velvet scrunchie because there are no stitches attached directly to the band. It is super customizable to your preferences which makes it such a great, fun craft!

You Will Need:
- Yarn - Bernat Velvet
- Hook - 6.5 MM or 6 MM
- Hairbands - Ouchless, thick for medium hair
- Time - About 15 minutes
- Experience - Beginner
Key
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
hdc - half double crochet
Steps
- Give your hairband a few small tugs to ensure it isn't defective
- Ch 6
- Take your chains and thread them through the center of the hairband
- Sl st into the first chain, ch 1.
- Hdc 5
- SL st to join, ch 1, hdc 5
This pattern is continued until you are satisfied with the look of your scrunchie. As you get closer to the end begin to stretch the hairband gently to ensure there is enough fabric to cover the band while it is stretched.
- Sl st to join the two ends
- Repeat this sl st in every stitch around to join the two ends together completely
- Pull a few times to ensure there aren't any holes or gaps
- Tie off the end and weave through!
Conclusion
This scrunchie pattern is super easy to do and can be completed in minutes! They make great gifts and can be made with a variety of yarn for endless possibilities!
